The AJWA Sultanahmet Hotel stands as a contemporary masterpiece in the heart of Istanbul’s historical peninsula, replacing the former Aziyadé Hotel with a design that pays homage to the region’s rich heritage. Completed in 2016 by Gülab Architecture & Construction, the building serves as a bridge between the past and the future by meticulously blending Seljuk and Ottoman architectural elements. Rather than merely mimicking historical styles, the structure incorporates authentic traditional crafts, including intricate kündekari woodwork and mother-of-pearl inlays, alongside curated Azerbaijani artworks. This deliberate choice of materials and motifs creates a timeless aesthetic that aims to leave a lasting imprint on the city’s skyline, ensuring the hotel functions not just as a luxurious accommodation but as a living museum of Anatolian and Islamic artistic traditions.
