The Kabataş Transfer Center and Square Renovation project aims to modernize one of Istanbul’s most critical transportation hubs by addressing current congestion and inadequate facilities through a design that balances high-capacity transit with vibrant public life. Designed to efficiently manage over 70,000 daily commuters, the project integrates sea and land traffic via a new triangular main square that respects the Bosphorus silhouette and maintains visual links with the Dolmabahçe Palace axis. The architectural plan features four distinct waiting halls for various maritime services, a landmark sloped park extending from Fındıklı Park to offer panoramic views, and an underground parking facility for 67 buses intended to alleviate surface-level traffic disruptions. By combining functional transit management with diverse shopping, dining, and cultural exhibition spaces, the redesign seeks to transform Kabataş from a mere transit point into a dynamic, 24-hour public destination that enriches the city’s environmental and cultural fabric.
