Designed by the pioneering architect Vedat Tek and completed in 1917, the Moda Pier is an exquisite representative of the First National Architecture Movement located on the Kadıköy coastline. The structure is distinguished by its elegant neoclassical Ottoman style, featuring a rectangular plan with a lead-domed central hall and a facade adorned with turquoise Kütahya tiles and pointed arches that demonstrate Tek’s mastery in blending traditional motifs with early 20th-century construction. Its distinctive character is further emphasized by the rhythmic placement of windows and the ornate stone carvings that reflect the architectural identity of the late Ottoman era. Having undergone a meticulous restoration by İBB Miras, the pier has been revitalized as a cultural landmark that continues to function as a maritime terminal while hosting a public library and café, preserving its historical soul as a sophisticated social hub for the residents of Istanbul.
