The İTÜ Faculty of Architecture, known for the famous Venus sculpture in Taskışla and the sketches of the Venus statue by one of the faculty’s esteemed professors, Prof. Paul Bonatz. Bonatz participated in the restoration works of Taskışla, which would be used as the İTÜ Faculty of Architecture, alongside Emin Halid Onat from 1943 to 1944, and taught architectural design at the same school between 1946 and 1954.
Constructed in 1847, Taşkışla is a building made for the first medical school in Turkish history, established by one of the most innovative sultans, Mahmud II, in 1827. However, in 1849, it was decided that it would serve as a barracks for soldiers. In 1944, it was then transferred to ITU for its original purpose of education.
