The Vilayet Mosque, also widely known as Nallı Mescid, is a historic sanctuary situated in the Sirkeci district of Istanbul, directly adjacent to the Istanbul Governorship. Originally founded in the fifteenth century during the reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror by Imam Ali Efendi, the structure underwent a complete reconstruction in 1868 under the patronage of Sultan Abdülaziz after falling into disrepair. The mosque attained its current architectural identity following a significant restoration in 1902, which introduced a distinctive eclectic style blending late Ottoman architectural traditions with Indian and Iranian decorative influences. Characterized by its unique masonry patterns, elegant details, and a prominent dome, this compact monument stands as a fascinating example of the pluralistic design aesthetics that defined the late Ottoman era.
