The Pera Palace Hotel, an iconic landmark in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, was designed by the renowned Levantine architect Alexandre Vallaury and completed in 1895. Originally established to accommodate travelers arriving on the Orient Express, the hotel stands as a magnificent example of eclectic architecture, blending Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, and Orientalist styles. It held a pioneering position in the city’s modernization by being the first building in Turkey, apart from Ottoman palaces, to provide electricity, hot running water, and a legendary electric elevator. Over the decades, the hotel has gained immense historical significance not only for its architectural grandeur but also for hosting illustrious figures such as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Agatha Christie, effectively preserving the glamorous atmosphere of the late 19th-century Belle Époque.
